A guarantee is only worth the paper it's on.
Every damp firm says "guaranteed". Far fewer will tell you the length, the system it applies to, or hand you a document at the end. We'd rather set it out plainly up front, so you know exactly what you're getting before you commit to anything.
You'll also want it later. When you sell the house, the buyer's solicitor will ask for damp proofing paperwork, and not having it can hold up a sale.
What you get handed over
- Your guarantee document, dated and specific to your property
- A written record of what was found and what was done
- The system and product used, named
- Photos of the work where it'll be covered up
- Aftercare notes — particularly drying times before decorating
Keep it with your deeds. Buyers and their solicitors will ask.
What's covered, and for how long
Our DPC injection uses the SecoMUR chemical system, which forms a new water-repellent barrier through the masonry. The guarantee runs for 30 years from completion and the paperwork is handed over on the day we finish.
Covered alongside the damp course where the two are done together, which is the normal arrangement — replastering with a salt-inhibiting render is part of the same fix rather than a separate job.
Guarantee length depends on the system fitted and the manufacturer's own warranty. We confirm the exact term in writing at the survey, before you commit — rather than quoting a headline figure that turns out to have conditions attached.
Terms depend on the product specified for your wall and its condition. Again, confirmed in writing at survey.
Waterproofing systems carry their own manufacturer terms, and where a pump is fitted it has separate servicing requirements. All set out at survey.

We won't put a headline number against roofing or coatings on a web page, because the honest answer varies by system and by wall. You'll get the specific figure in writing before you spend anything — which is more useful than a number on a website.
What a guarantee doesn't cover
Every guarantee in this trade has limits, and the firms that don't mention them are the ones you end up arguing with. Here are ours, up front.
New problems elsewhere
A guarantee on an injected damp course covers that damp course. If a gutter fails two years later and soaks a different wall, that's a new job — though we'll always come and look.
Structural movement
If a building moves and cracks a coating, that's the structure rather than the coating. We'd tell you at survey if we thought movement was a risk.
Ventilation and upkeep
Condensation problems come back if extract fans are switched off or air bricks get blocked up. Treatments assume the property is being ventilated normally.
If something we've done isn't right, ring us. Our reviews mention issues being sorted promptly more than once, and that's the part we'd rather be judged on than the wording of a certificate.
